ASSOCIATION SOMIFA SPRING
LEAGUE
page’s final update 11/5/2007
Welcome
to the SOMIFA Spring League! The SOMIFA
Spring League was an offshoot of the SOMIFA http://www.somiba.com/somifa.html
which is a 24 team draft keeper league.
Each February league membership was determined with some coaches who
want to continue from the SOMIFA fall season and as many new coaches as had wanted
to join up to a maximum total of 24 teams.
SOMIFA
Spring League teams are already pre-set, there is no
further trading or drafting. Coaches
have a choice of keeping their SOMIFA team or participating in the team
selection draft while coaches who are not in the SOMIFA participate in the team
selection draft. The team selection
draft contains the SOMIFA teams of all of the coaches who are not participating
in SOMIFA Spring League or who are not keeping their SOMIFA team for the SOMIFA
Spring League. The order of the team
selection draft is random and determined via online lottery.
Host of the game –
please e-mail me the html boxscore file and the
POST file as soon as the game ends.

Procedure
for playing a game:
1.
Download and
unzip the 4 pre-game files sent to you into the “Receive” folder within the Strat-O-Matic Football folder on your hard drive;
2.
Make sure that
you have the game settings correct in your game – auto-save after each play,
fastest or no animation, scroll play by play off, etc.;
3.
Arrange with one
of your 4 opponents for the quarter (see league schedule) to meet at a specific
day and time; meet online at that time via AIM to negotiate the beginning of
the game (ip address, etc.); if you set a day and
time please make every effort to fulfill that commitment or if it is a
tentative date then let your opponent know this ahead of time;
4.
Load the game and
play; if the game crashes then the host must load the auto-saved (or manually
saved) game to resume playing from the point of the crash;
5.
The host
of the game needs to send to NFLed@aol.com
the post file and the html box score for the game – this is located in the
“Leagues” folder within the Strat-O-Matic folder on
your hard drive; if the loser of the game would like to send the file instead
that’s okay

Here
are more comments about the Spring League:
1) You do not need to participate in this at all, you can
ignore it if you want and then participate as normal next season in the fall.
2) People who are not currently in the league are encouraged to participate in
the team selection draft (assuming there are coaches who don't want to
participate in this which would leave some openings). If we end up with fewer
than 24 owned teams then the schedule and playoffs will be adjusted accordingly
(per the Constitution).
3) No trades will be allowed and rosters will be used the same as they ended
the SOMIFA season.
4) All league guidelines will be in place including game etiquette, no-shows,
etc.; violating these things will have the same weight in the spring league as
in the regular season so if you may not be able to play all of your games then
this spring league may not be for you.
5) Games in the Spring League will not count towards lifetime records within
the league (but will count towards Spring League lifetime records).
6) Rule Differences between SOMIFA and SOMIFA Spring League:
If the offense is in a 1 WR formation then it
may use any WR (this is already a rule) and in the SOMIFA Spring League we
allow the defense to swap CB’s left/right in this situation.
7) There may or may
not be the same full stats package as in SOMIFA; either way, though, Standings
will be updated daily.
8) The league will
play an 8-game schedule this season.
Everyone in the league needs to be familiar with the bulleted items in the league Constitution and please make sure that you know the game rules for such things as when show blitz, 4-2-5, and 3-3-5 are allowed and what RB’s are restricted. Also, make sure that you set the game option to autosave after each play by going into the game, clicking on Game, clicking on Options, and clicking on Auto Save after Each Play to put a check mark there. And please follow the other rules listed in the Constitution such as fastest animation (or no animation).
